History has shown that even the most experienced guys can make mistakes all on their own, such as Ray a couple of years ago.

CAMS recognises that Bathurst is different (eg; no P platers). At 6+k's it's a long complex circuit with lots of tricky situations, blind crests and corners, limited visibility, lack of run off areas in many high speed places and often big consequences for a small error. Over the years I have known plenty of drivers that were good at other circuits but hopeless at Bathurst. A multi times Bathurst 1000 Champion told me that it took him over 100 laps to get anywhere near a good lap and he still reckons he's never done a perfect one.

My point of view, is that just because someone has done, say, 30 races at Wakefield Park doesn't mean he/she is going to be OK at Bathurst. IMHO the selection criteria needs to be much more comprehensive than doing OK at one or two circuits over a couple of years. I know it's harsh but sometimes the good of the many for many years exceeds the good of a few for one year.

My advice to anyone who wanted to run in the IP Bathurst Challenge has always been to race at as many different circuits as possible. Build a resume, including if possible running at Bathurst at the Easter meeting. That way a decent case can be mounted for getting an entry.

Cheers
Gary

The "problem" is that we have an over subscribed grid.... 106 does not go into 60 without someone missing out.
You may be experienced and you may have even competed at Bathurst but just not in the IP race, so the level of experience is not the problem.
I have outlined the process that is being taken this year and when you look at the numbers it actually works out reasonably well balanced I think.

There is a lot to plan for when promoting an event such as this and I try to consider all aspects and for the past 8 years I would like to think most are happy with what has been done, but do understand not everyone is going to be happy, especially when they miss out.

I don't have an answer for those, other than to say I'm sorry and to keep trying.

One new one per state
Everyone else has run before, pretty sure it was discussed earlier in the thread
Contrary to popular opinion, I do have mechanical sympathy, I always feel sorry for the cars I drive.

Production cars at Easter seem to have a grid capacity of 72. Does this effect IP in Feb. more spots?

I am still waiting to receive the sup regs and official entry form from the organizers.
There will be no entry list published until all entry forms are back to me and all have paid and been confirmed.
Normally in the past the paperwork has come out much sooner and by now I have everything locked in and I publish a list, but unfortunately not this year.

Endurance races have a different (higher) grid capacity to sprint races.
