NULON IMPROVED PRODUCTION CARS @ CLIPSAL 500 2017

Post by moylee19 » Thu Oct 27, 2016 11:32 am

The Improved Production Racing Association of South Australia (IPRASA) is pleased to announce that Improved Production Cars have been included on the grid as a support category for the Clipsal 500 Adelaide in 2017.

The event will start on Thursday 2nd March 2017 and conclude on Saturday 4th March 2017 with the main Supercars event on Sunday 5th March 2017. We have scheduled a 3 race format with track time being made up of 5 sessions in total, 1 practice, 1 qualifying and 3 races. The entry will include a powered marquee as well as a competitor goody bag, 5 event tickets, access to the competitor’s corporate area. The event entry fee will be $2500.

This is a once-in-a life-time opportunity to race your IP car on one of Australia’s premier street circuits.

Grid spots will be limited at 32 positions. Competitors wishing to enter must fill out an application form and submit it via the IPRASA website, along with a deposit of $500. Final entries will be selected by the organising committee, unsuccessful applications will have their deposit fully refunded.

A reminder that part of the conditions of racing at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide is that no “P” licence holders are allowed to compete. Please be aware that entries will only be accepted from current financial members of an IPRA club.

If you are interested in competing at this event please visit http://www.iprasa.org.au/clipsal and fill in the online application form. Please note that applications will not be accepted until a deposit has been received.

For more information please email - events@iprasa.org.au

Event applications will open at 9am CST on Friday 28th October 2016 and close at 5pm on Friday 11th November 2016.

All applicants will be advised ASAP after the closing date if they were successful or unsuccessful.

MASSIVE respect to IPRASA for making this happen.

For anyone that has been to the Clipsal 500 they would know what a spectacular event it really is and the vibe around Adelaide during the event is an absolute buzz. The event organizers are very clever and run a tight show that is purely for entertainment and they sure do come through with the goods. To convince them that a predominately state based category like IPRA can add to that entertainment is out of this world!! This could potentially be a game changer for IPRA at a national level if we can provide the goods that show them what a great product we have to offer. Thanks IPRASA!!

Haha how good would a pesky little U2l look launching over the kerbs trying to annoy the big boys :D

Gaz $2500 for IPRA, at Clipsal, at a V8 round, with Highly entertaining other support categories we have to compete with..... it's not bad in my opinion!

Cheers,
JCox.

Well done guys, great respect for being able to achieve something like this, it would have been a lot of effort!

Let's hope everyone supports this event even if they can't make it in person.
Cheers,

Dave

I think the price is in line, especially when they can only spread the costs over 32 cars, which will be dictated to IPRA
How often do we get never before, unlikely again events? There may be opportunities to run with the V8's (if that is your thing) but not with that sort of crowd on that circuit
Contrary to popular opinion, I do have mechanical sympathy, I always feel sorry for the cars I drive.

Brilliant news. I've often wondered just how much more popular IP would be if it was seen regularly by a much wider audience ?

Great job to the SA team.... =D>

Going by the comments on speedcafes FB it looks like a popular choice. Hopefully we can put on a good show and get everyone talking and gain some interest.

I would love to enter, but my younger sister has chosen this date for her wedding day. Alas I'm out, what a great event it would be though. Hopefully it can continue into the future just like mentioned above, I like to race interstate at different racetracks I've raced on every permanent circuit in Oz bar Barbagallo which I hope to travel to the Nationals for and Malalla in Adelaide. It would be great to race on a street circuit Adelaide, Gold Coast, Newcastle etc I also know that it is to the detriment of permanent circuits but they are cool to race on. Good luck IPRASA wish I could do it, maybe the year after if possible.

How many races are required to get off P plates and how many races are there before the Clipsal? I am seriously enquiring if it is possible to get on the Clipsal Track in this event, without currently having a CAMS license? I did hold a level 2s (if I recall correctly) some time ago.
Any advice appreciated.

Great job guys, putting the category in front of a huge live and tv audience could bring new competitors, new advertisers and new fans to watch state rounds, and be a long term benefit, even if a couple of competitors then don't have the budget to do a state round or two...looks like upside far outweighs the down side that negative Nancy can't see past ](*,)

Would I be right in assuming that a Nationals level roll cage would be mandatory for this event?
